History and Time

In the Potunga Galaxy, we use three notations to signify which era a year belongs to;

The Current Era is AGW, with the current year being 300 AGW

A single year is made up of 384 days, each day being a period of 24 hours. Every planet will be divided into several 'time-zones', and galactically all these time zones will matchup i.e., Time Zone 1 will be the same time across the galaxy.

A year is divided into twelve equal months of thirty-two days:

Each month may also have different names in different languages. A single month will be made of thirty-two days, divided up into four weeks of eight days. The days of the week are:

Again, each day may also have their own names in different languages. Within the greater Galactic Community, Beday to Enday is the working week, and Restday to Moonsday are non-working days. If an individual works on these days, Galactic Law requires they be paid extra.

A Brief History of The Galaxy

As told by Kailo Křaul Adnama in "Potunga: The Myths, Legends, and Histories of a Billion Peoples".

"In The Beginning, There was One

Billions of years ago, the Potunga Galaxy was inhabited by a singular sapient life form; The First Ones. They had an empire that covered the entire galaxy, or at least the galaxy that it was back then, for the Potunga Galaxy itself has evolved and changed throughout the years and was much smaller back then.

The First Ones had colonies on every inhabitable planet and had stations in orbit around those that were not. They were extremely advanced technologically; they could create brand new planets and stars, among other things. But despite their immense power and superior technology to even that of today, they were lonely. For you see, not only were they the only sapient life form in the galaxy, but they were also the only life form. They had travelled across an entire galaxy and had found no traces of life; there were no animals, no plants not even any bacteria. They were entirely alone. So, they decided to explore outside of their galaxy.

After millennia of searching, they finally came across a small lonely blue planet that had life. Yes, it was basic and primitive, but it existed. They were not alone in the Universe! They collected DNA samples of the life forms and set about colonising the inhabitable planets of their galaxy with life, slowly making their empire smaller and smaller to accommodate for the new lives. Every couple of centuries or so, they would check in on their little blue friend. And each time they were surprised to see how far life on this planet had advanced. More and more species began to evolve, so more and more species began to exist in their galaxy. They began to create new stars and planets. They embedded in the heart of every planet a device that would protect the planet from destroying itself or being enveloped by a star. They created the stars in such a way that they were immortal, so to speak.

After millennia of colonising their galaxy with life, they decided it was time to create intelligent life. They chose twelve species that they would alter to become sapient and spread them to the twelve corners of their galaxy. These species are called the Pioneers. The Pioneers were guided and helped, but only in small amounts. Soon, all thirteen species lived in harmony across the galaxy.

And while this was happening, the lonely blue planet continued to change and evolve. The First Ones continued to collect samples of DNA and colonising planets, but they also began to alter some slightly, very slightly, to make new species not found on Lonely Blue Planet.

Eventually The First Ones noticed that the lonely blue planet had evolved her own sapient life form. The First Ones were pleased. They collected not only samples of this species, but also living individuals, and did so throughout the history of the people. They deposited small communities of this species on planets in The First Ones galaxy, and soon many planets had small communities of lonely blue planet people, with every community being slightly, or majorly, different from the others. The First Ones also noticed that on planets that did not have lonely blue planet people or their ancestors, different species had evolved as the dominant sapient life. The First Ones were pleased.

After so many years of creating life, The First Ones Empire now only consisted of a few star systems, and their population was small. They did not mind, for they had done the greatest thing any living thing could ever do, and that was create new life. The First Ones slowly disappeared from the Potunga Galaxy, and faded into legend. Nearly every trace that they truly existed disappeared with them. All knowledge of their existence faded into legend."

K.K Adnama states that this 'creation myth' is created from the plethora of stories and myths He could gather from across the galaxy, as well as from an unnamed source from the Ancient Empire of Fujo who allowed Adnama to browse a small collection of their thousands of years' worth of knowledge and history. This is therefore one of the most plausible scenarios that enabled the Potunga Galaxy to be filled with life.
